Spacious, newly renovated rooms had balconies with garden views and bathrooms ranged from clean and sufficient to luxurious with black marble, breakfast was local and served on trays with vegetables and cheese, while the staff was friendly. The hotel Mateo was located on a busy coastal road in Beylerbeyi near a good fish restaurant by the Bosporus, with a bus stop about 100 meters away.
