We stayed in apartments above the Safrane restaurant near Gulhane tram station, which is different from the Hotel Gulhane the maps show. The trams start creaking by 6 a.m. and the muezzin call from Hagia Sophia around 7 really jolts you awake-definitely not your usual calm stay, but unforgettable if you’re up for something wild.
